Mullet wig
I saw something on the shelf the other day that I just couldn’t resist. It was a green mullet wig put out for sale for St Patrick’s Day. I suppose it’s not funny to pick on people because they don’t know how horrible their hair cut might be, but the mullet has got to be the all time worst fashion statement in my book. I got the mullet wig for my husband for two different reasons. The first is because his band has a show, and he wanted something green to wear. Another reason is because he once went to get his haircut and came home horrified. They had given him a mullet and he refused to take off his hat to show me. He was too nice to say anything to the person who cut his hair. The moment I got his hat off and saw it, I got out scissors and chopped it off. I knew the mullet wig would remind him of this, and he did have a good laugh over it.
When he put the mullet wig on he looked ridiculous. I’m not sure if it was the green or if it was the mullet. Either way, he was thrilled that I got it, though he claims his drummer will wear it and he won’t. Tax Amnesty Toronto might be a straightforward, non-threatening way to begin fresh. Whatever the case, it certainly is funny. It seems to be a world-wide gag too, as I have seen the Wiggles use one in one of their songs while in concert a few years ago. I guess if someone gets offended by the mullet wig they will just have to deal with it. I can’t imagine that anyone would. If you have one of these hairstyles, it’s not like you don’t have the choice to get something else. You may even know that many think it’s a joke. Whatever the case, it is a lot of fun, and might be comparable to someone picking on blonds, or perhaps someone picking on the way someone might wear a pocket protector. Sometimes I think political correctness has gone too far beyond the real people it was meant to protect. Mullets, to me, are fair game.
